Firm Profile:

Jonathan Miller, AIA, NCARB
Jonathan graduated in 1991 from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and began his career working for firms in Knoxville on a variety of project types including banks, historic renovations, sport complexes, commercial and retail buildings, church buildings, and church master-planning.
Fresh out of a design school heavily influenced by modernism, Jonathan discovered his love for traditional and classical design while collecting books on historic architecture. Pursuing this interest, he founded Jonathan Miller Architects in 2003, becoming a leader in classical and traditional architectural design in the Southeast. His artistic sketches, human-oriented design style and gracious demeanor bring a truth and timelessness to all his buildings.
When he’s not sketching or designing, Jonathan can be found outside teaching his kids how to play golf. Born in West Virginia, Jonathan now calls Knoxville home and resides here with his wife and four beautiful children.
Professional Achievements and Affiliations:
• 2006 Graduate of the Intensive Professional Program in Classical Architecture from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America in New York City
• 2006 Grand Prize Winner, Traditional Building Design Challenge
• AIA, NCARB, ICA&CA

Jason Foshie, NCARB, LEED AP
An East Tennessee native, Jason graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. He worked for several architectural firms in Knoxville before joining Jonathan in 2003. Jason’s experience includes hotels, resorts, assisted living, religious buildings, offices and custom residential.
An outstandingly hard worker, Jason’s eye for detail coupled with his deep technical knowledge makes our projects succeed. His design abilities give thoroughness to each project from concept to completion. He is rigorous in the implementation of classical design and many of our classically influenced buildings have come from his desk.
Jason enjoys woodworking and loves to golf. Finding Jason out on the golf course is easy, that is, when he’s not spending time with his wife and keeping his two kids out of trouble. |

Matt Cox
After deciding that engineering school was not his thing, Matt enrolled at the University of Tennessee in their College of Architecture and Design. Graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, he briefly gained broader experience in the development process working for a civil engineering firm. Shortly thereafter, Matt joined the ranks of Jonathan Miller Architects.
A thoughtful designer and firm believer in efficient and simple spaces, Matt loves to pare designs down to their essential elements and arrange those elements in beautiful, functional designs. His intrigue with vernacular and traditional architecture finds a perfect fit in the firm. Many of the graphic designs and presentations that accompany our projects are his creations.
Matt enjoys the close proximity of his hometown of Knoxville to the beautiful Smoky Mountains. He hikes, camps and has at one time or another enjoyed most any outdoor sport you can name. Many a weekend finds Matt and his lovely wife deep in the mountains on a trail. |
